German tourist declared dead after dive
PHANG-NGA: A 59-year-old German tourist met a tragic end after a dive off the coast of Phang-nga. The terrible tragedy took place near the idyllic Flower Island (Koh Dok Mai) in the Yao Island district. Phuket Tourist Police were informed of the incident on Friday afternoon (July 28, 2023) and confirmed the death of the foreigner.
The man was found unconscious after diving into the depths of the sea with a local tour operator. Friends who were traveling with him reported that the man reached a diving depth of up to 20 meters before returning to the boat to rest. Although exhausted, he did not appear to be ill. They later found him unconscious and face up on the boat.
The exact cause of the German tourist’s death remains a mystery for the time being and is being thoroughly investigated by the relevant authorities and medical professionals. The man had traveled to Thailand on 22 July 2023 with a tourist visa that would have been valid until 20 August 2023.
